Considered a midsize school, with approximately 380 to 450 incoming students each year, Duke Fuqua School of Business always places among the top twenty U.S. business schools in the Bloomberg Businessweek rankings, which is generally regarded as the most respected of the MBA surveys. The school offers a popular Health Sector Management [HSM] program, but overall, the MBA program appears balanced in terms of the industries its graduates pursue. Of the Class of 2023, 43% entered the consulting industry, 21% financial services, 17% technology, 6% consumer packaged goods, and 6% health care. From a function perspective, the top areas were consulting with 47%, finance/accounting with 21%, general management with 16%, and marketing/sales with 13%.

The concept of Team Fuqua—which was mentioned by nearly all the students, alumni, and administration members we interviewed for this guide—seems to dominate the school’s culture. In fact, much of the school is student run, and as a result, Fuquans enjoy a large number of leadership opportunities.

Consulting is often among the highest paying industries and the members of the Class of 2023 that went into consulting received a median salary of $190,000. Fuqua graduates who went into the financial services industries received a median salary of $175,000. What is a good GMAT score for Fuqua?

The Class of 2025 at Fuqua has a middle 80% GMAT score range of 660 to 760. Fuqua does not report an average GMAT score on its website. Based on the GMAT range at Fuqua, a competitive GMAT score would fall within the range. If your GMAT score is on the lower side, you can re-take test to try to improve your score.

Does Duke Fuqua require the GMAT?

The Duke Fuqua MBA program requires a standardized test score for admission. Fuqua accepts the GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, and EA tests from applicants. The test scores are valid for up to five years, and there is no minimum score for any test. The Fuqua admissions committee does not have a preference between the tests. If you took the GMAT test and have not taken the new GMAT Focus, no problem—you can submit the classic GMAT score for up to five years.
